I just started reading a new study titled, “A Time For Everything.” While I am a huge fan of cultivating balance in our lives, this study by Margaret Feinberg, put a new spin on it.
It’s challenging enough to balance everything we need to on a daily basis. We often place unrealistic expectations on ourselves and then wonder why we weren’t able to succeed.
“Instead of trying to stay perfectly balanced all the time (an impossible act!), the Bible challenges us to pay attention to the season of life we’re in and recognize that there’s a time for everything,” she tells us.
What a great way to look at this idea of balance! Balancing the demands of our lives while considering the season of life we are in.
The seasons of our lives, as described in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, are marked by distinct characteristics; some may be busier than others, some may be full of transitions while others are more stable. Some seasons will challenge us and others will allow us to rest. Some marked by beginnings and others by endings.
No matter what season of life we find ourselves in, as children of God, we can find Him in the midst of it. He is right there with us, in every season of our lives, teaching us, growing us, changing us, giving us rest, refreshing, challenges.
What season of life are you in? What roles and commitments do you find yourself trying to balance? How are you doing? How would looking at the idea of balance through this new perspective change things for you?
I’d be so happy to hear your thoughts on this. Feel free to comment on this post and let your voice be heard! It’s always great to share new ideas and perspectives with friends.
